PDX-S

Voted BEST OF SHOT 2019 by RECOIL Magazine

Born from the SOCOM PDW solicitation, the NEW Maxim Defense PDX™ is designed to handle the fierce demands of the Tier 1 community. The PDX™ dominates close-quarter encounters and achieves maximum energy on target.

At just 18.75″ in overall length, the PDX™ delivers groundbreaking power and performance in a subcompact platform.

At the heart of the PDX™ is our Maxim SCW™ system. This patent-pending system cuts down the length of the stock to 4″. The integrated BCG with interchangeable buffer weights gives you maximum performance and versatility without sacrificing form and functionality. The PDX uses a Direct Impingement system.

The PDX™ comes equipped with Maxim’s HATEBRAKE™ muzzle booster. This patent-pending device significantly reduces recoil, decreases the flash signature, pushes gasses, and concussion wave downrange away from the operator, and improves overall performance.

I have the PDX SBR Arid in 5.56 and I absolutely LOVE it! It is one of my EDC’s for an active shooter response PDW. I carry it in a Hazard 4 Plan B sling pack (fits perfectly!). I’m getting 1960 fps from 62gr M855 (Lab Radar) & 530 ft lbs. Those that think a 5.5” barreled AR is useless let me put that into perspective regarding CQB or 100 yards or less – a 180gr 40 S&W has approx 400 ft lbs. At 75 yards the PDX packs the same energy as a 40 S&W does at the muzzle. I shot the M855 into Clear Ballistics Gel from 20 feet – there was about a 6” neck then TWO permanent wound cavities! The bullet tumbled and the temporary stretch was about 7” in diameter in the first cavity and 4” in diameter in the second cavity. The bullet had slight fragmentation in the second cavity and exited the 16” block. Considering I carry it with a 10 round Pmag inserted with three 20 round mags in the sling pack that’s 70 rounds vs a duty load of 49 rounds of 40 S&W in a package that is much easier to shoot accurately under stress than a pistol…plus I have a D60 mag in the truck. As a combat instructor for state law enforcement this is my go to gun for situations under 100 yards…PERIOD! I’m running a CGS Helios QD on her…not hearing safe but seriously cuts down concussion and is Ok without ear protection for emergency situations for a few shots. I know what they say about installing a suppressor but Maxim’s product quality is top tier so I’m not worried about anything failing…I also installed a Timney Calvin Elite trigger so this PDX is one sweet little ride!!! Factory trigger was fine but I’m very used to 1.5 – 2 lb triggers. Buy one with confidence…you won’t regret it 👍🏻

Here’s a video short I did with some ballistics gel being shot with 5.57 M855 @ 1960 fps.
